NOVA COMPANY CONTRACT
ABOUT US:
Nova company is for dancers aged 5-18 years old that want to expand their dance performance opportunities beyond our annual Winter and Spring Concerts. Nova dancers will be selected by invitation only by our children’s program director as well as the studio director. Our goal is to teach students valuable lessons about teamwork, responsibility, and commitment in a fun-filled, creative, and energetic atmosphere. Each dancer will be given an individual and unique training track that provides the growth, guidance, and training they need to succeed as a dancer as well as in life. Our focus is to provide expertise in dance technique, performance readiness, and amazing choreography. Dancers will not only have excellent dance training and education, but they will become a part of our dance family and make great friendships that will last a lifetime.
HOW IT WORKS:
Once the invitation has been accepted the parent and dancer will be able to choose how many different dance “routines” they want to participate in. This will include group performances, trios, duos and/or solos. This will help the director to cast accordingly as well as help the parent plan the dance season budget. You find the pricing below.
COMPETITION & PERFORMANCES:
Nova dancers compete at 2 local competitions each season and are given local performance opportunities to share their love for dance with the community and city of Charleston. Soloist also have the option of competing their solos at additional local competitions.
COMMITMENT & REQUIREMENTS:
· Company members are required to take 2 technique classes each week and attend their scheduled company rehearsals.
· If your dancer is sick or injured and is unable to attend a required class or rehearsal, please inform the Director immediately.
· Students are given three (3) unexcused absences. Excused Absences: sickness (with doctor’s note – use discretion), death in the family, mandatory school activities (that are for a grade). Everything other than these will be considered an unexcused absence. If a student is injured, they are still required to observe class. Punctuality is just as important as attendance; please be on time and prepared for class. Two (2) occurrences of tardiness will count as an unexcused absence.
· Students should not miss more than FOUR (4) of any one class per dance season; after which, the dancer may be dismissed from the class. Dance requires consistent ongoing training, and dancers who excessively miss classes will not be able to perform at the same level as those who have attended all classes regularly. Regular attendance in all required dance classes is expected of company members.
· All company members must wear appropriate dancewear to every class. Forgetting dancewear, shoes, proper hair, and/or wearing inappropriate clothing is not acceptable. Hair must be securely pulled up for every class. Jewelry is not permitted while in class.
· Parental behavior is also extremely important. Any parent displaying a negative attitude, gossiping about other parents or students, displaying negativity at events, or overall being difficult will affect their child’s place in the Company. There will be a Zero Tolerance Policy for any of these behaviors; Parent & Company Members will be immediately removed from the Company.
· Company Members must be respectful at home to their parents and siblings. Any news of disrespect in the home will result in a probation period and if continued dismissal from the Company.
· Company Members must maintain passing grades in school to participate.
· Extra rehearsals may be called approaching a performance or competition. We will make our best efforts to schedule additional rehearsals well in advance.
· If tuition or fees are more than 30 days past due, company members will be placed on probation & will be unable to attend classes or rehearsals until the balance is paid in full. If a company member has two probation periods, it can result in dismissal from the Company. Late payments and bounced checks will also be charged an additional $25 fee.
· No refund of payment shall be given in the event of dismissal from the company. A $60 fee applies to any student who drops out of Nova during competition season (August-May).
