LISA LOCK

Lisa K. Lock holds a Ballet Diploma from the Grande Ecole de Danse in Bern, Switzerland and a BFA and MFA Degree from the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, CA. Until 2024 she served as Associate Professor and Artistic Director for the Department of Dance at Kennesaw State University in Metro Atlanta. Her teaching experience is extensive across the university system and the private studio sector alike. 

As a solo artist and choreographer, Lisa has performed throughout the Los Angeles basin, as well as nationally and internationally. She was a recipient of an Individual Excellence Award by the Ohio Arts Council for her solo work, has been honored with a Lester Horton Award for outstanding achievement in choreography in Los Angeles, as well as voted best female dancer of the year 2004 by the Beverly Hills Outlook in Los Angeles. 

Lisa has free lanced with many dance companies, starting with the Swiss Chamber Ballet in Basel, Switzerland,  Hysterica Dance Company, the Francisco Martinez Dance Theater, Kin Dance Company, and many more in L.A. She also has worked with Opera Cleveland, both as a performer and choreographer, and NYC based Phantom Limbs, as a dancer and puppeteer. 

Furthermore, as a choreographer, Lisa has created several works for her students at Kennesaw State University. In 2018 her work “Suspended Visions” was selected to perform at the Kennedy Performing Arts Center in Washington DC as part of the national GALA Concert by the American College Dance Festival (ACDA). In the past she also created original works for Georgia Ballet and Full Radius Dance in Atlanta, and was commissioned by the San Jose, CA based filmmaker John T. Williams. In Cleveland, OH she choreographed for Dancing Wheels, Verb Ballets, and the former Cleveland Contemporary Dance Theater. Further, she had the opportunity to present several evening length solo concerts, both in L.A. and Cleveland, OH.
