DRESS REHEARSAL + SHOW DAY ARRIVAL
Please ensure that your dancers arrive at the venue in full costume, complete with the required hair and makeup (the hair and make-up details are listed below). Note that makeup is not allowed in the lobby area or auditorium.
Each dancer may be accompanied by one parent or guardian only for dress rehearsal. No additional guests are permitted at dress rehearsal. We kindly ask that dancers not be dropped off—please plan to stay with your child.
Before checking in, please make sure your child uses the bathroom, and then proceed to the Dancer Check-In Station.
Ensure dancers have their costumes, shoes, water bottle, and belongings. Please label all belongings. Students will remain backstage for the entire performance for both dress rehearsal and show day and will be under the supervision of our staff.
For safety reasons, only staff members are permitted beyond the check-in station. Parents are not allowed backstage. Our team will escort dancers backstage, help them get settled with their class, assist with bathroom breaks, guide them on and off stage, and return them to the check-in station after rehearsal.
You may pack a snack and water bottle for your child. Please be mindful not to pack messy snacks that can stain costumes or spill. No peanuts, please.
Once your dancer has been checked in, you may take your seat in the auditorium.
DRESS REHEARSAL + SHOW DAY DISMISSAL
DRESS REHEARSAL DISMISSAL:
After rehearsal, all dancers will be dismissed from the Dancer Check-In Station. Our faculty will escort each dancer to the dismissal door with all of their belongings to ensure a smooth and safe pick-up process. We ask that parents remain in the designated area and wait for staff to bring their dancer to them.
SHOW DAY DISMISSAL:
On the day of the show (not dress rehearsal), a wristband with your child's name and a number will be given to you. The wristband is required for the parent or guardian who will pick up the child after the show.
After the show, all dancers will be dismissed at the Dancer Check-in station. ONLY THE PARENT WITH THE WRISTBAND will go to the Dancer Check-in area to pick up dancer. Other guests can proceed to the common area. Please allow time for this process. This is a time to show patience and appreciation for our backstage staff, who worked so hard to make the show run smoothly and to keep your children safe!
COSTUMES
To ensure no costume issues, dancers should not wear their costumes or performance tights before dress rehearsal and the show.
All costumes require tights, except for certain Hip-Hop costumes or costumes that have pant bottoms.
No underwear is to be worn on dress rehearsal or recital day. We do not want to see your panty lines! Skintone bras or leotards are required for those dancers who need them.
We ask that dancers wear natural-colored nail polish or natural nails without polish and keep earrings to simple studs. Please remove any bracelets/anklets, necklaces, and rings.
We encourage dancers to bring all costume pieces, accessories, and shoes in a garment bag with a hanger with their NAME CLEARLY LABELED on the outside. This will help staff move dancers quickly to and from backstage. REMEMBER: LABEL EVERYTHING! Costumes, shoes, tights, bags, water bottles, etc. Do not bring any extra items that can be lost or broken.
HAIR
To ensure a clean, professional look on stage, all dancers must follow the recital hair guidelines below. Hair should be neat, secure, and styled away from the face so dancers look polished and uniform under stage lighting.
General Hair Guidelines
Hair must be pulled completely away from the face with no loose strands.
Secure hair with elastics, bobby pins, and hair ties as needed.
Use hairspray or gel to smooth flyaways and create a sleek finish.
Dancers with short hair must still secure hair away from the face using pins, gel, or hairspray.
If a hair accessory came with the costume, it should be worn on the dancer’s right side unless otherwise instructed.
Hair should be secure enough to stay in place for the entire performance.
Please see the examples below for performance hair inspiration.

STAGE MAKE-UP GUIDE
It is common for parents to have reservations about applying makeup to young dancers. We want to assure you that stage makeup is essential for every performance.
Why Stage Makeup Matters:
Visibility from the stage: Without stage makeup, a dancer’s facial features can appear washed out under bright stage lights.
Expression and storytelling: Dancers are storytellers who communicate emotion and character through movement and facial expression. Stage makeup ensures their expressions are visible to the audience.
Enhanced features: Unlike everyday makeup, stage makeup is more dramatic so that the dancer’s eyes, lips, and facial contours are defined and noticeable from a distance.
Stage makeup allows your dancer to shine on stage, ensuring their performance is fully seen and appreciated by the audience.
Think of it as part of the costume — it completes the performance look!
